Lighting trends 2024

17 of September '24

From the series "Lighting, fixtures - trends 2024"

Sustainability is the watchword of the 21st century. LED lighting, which is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, is the most popular light source on the market. We can expect new LED technologies to offer even greater energy efficiency, which will help reduce electricity consumption. Already, LED bulbs can shine up to 50 times longer than their classic counterparts. Kanlux XLED EX sources mean a power consumption of 4W, and the same amount of light as a traditional 60W incandescent bulb gave. LEDs also mean longer use, and all these aspects were very important for the household budget this year. How did this relate to the design chosen in the past year?

Spring 2024 was marked by natural materials. To the reigning until recently "concrete luminaires" in the style of Kanlux ETISSA or Kanlux OGIVA began to join luminaires made of "seagrass", rattan and bamboo. Felt lamps with interchangeable shades have become a completely new trend. The springtime focus is on lightness and bright colors.

Summer passed under the sign of outdoor garlands, and this year their popularity was even greater than in previous years. Extremely aesthetic Kanlux STONO MILK GRL were very popular. In the garden, of course, Kanlux STONO stone-like spheres reigned indivisibly, which was no surprise to us.

A new summer hit turned out to be all kinds of wireless table lamps. These portable lamps, such as Kanlux INITA or Kanlux FLUXY, have illuminated many an evening event this summer, thanks to their small size, interesting design and solid workmanship. These lamps can be easily recharged using a charger with a UCB-C plug, and their solid construction and wide selection of colors meant that everyone could find a favorite among them.

The upcoming autumn of 2024 already shows that smart lighting technology will become more and more popular this year. This trend has been going on for several years. In autumn, we want to prepare a "comfortable nest" for winter, when it is dark outside for most of the day. SMART technology allows us to remotely control, adjust the brightness and color of the light using smartphones or voice assistants. Automation systems that respond to preferences and schedules have been the present for several years, and their development will continue to gain popularity. Kanlux SMART includes non-intrusive, smart self-deployment solutions that allow you to control your home with your smartphone. Convenience, increased security, such as protecting your home from flooding, fire or burglary, saving time with modern automation and personalized scenarios. This is not just the lighting of the future, but a range of solutions to make life easier. Applications that run on IFTTT (IF This Than That) allow you to create individual sequences. When you are 500 meters from your house, the heating automatically turns on, 50 meters from your house, the garage entrance light turns on, 10 meters, the garage door opens, 2 meters and the garage door starts to open. When you close the garage, the light in the house turns on and your favorite music and fragrance diffuser turns on... This is no longer a fantasy but an everyday reality for many people, which does not require a lot of money at all. This technology will grow in popularity along with its ease of use.

For several years now, with the arrival of autumn, we have also seen an increase in the popularity of plafonds. These ceiling solutions are ideal for lower rooms - where we don't have space for hanging lamps. Plafondier is the luminaire that has undergone the greatest evolution in the last 30 years. It went from being an ugly duckling (we probably all remember what a synonym for ugliness plafonders once were), through a temporary disappearance, and finally to return in a completely refreshed and changed form. This happened primarily through the possibility of installing LED modules in lamps. It has become normal to change the light color and intensity. Night mode and timer are also very popular. An example of such a plafond is Kanlux ARVOS, which allows you to change the light in a room without changing the lamp. With remote control, you can change the light color and intensity, and set the night mode in the evening.

Still fashionable are plafonds, which not only illuminate but also decorate the room. Such an example can be Kanlux SOLN plafonds, which is a reflection of interior trends in the sophisticated art deco style, which is associated with luxury, expressive textures and the use of shiny surfaces, including gold accessories.

From eco-friendly solutions to intelligent control systems, we're all about enjoying beautiful, striking and functional lighting that brings new quality to a space. However, we can see that we increasingly value minimalism and solutions that reduce electricity consumption. This trend, in our opinion, will prevail in the coming 2025.
